Visiting Care

Practical, hands-on support that helps your loved one stay in their own home.

What it is

Visiting care is for people who need more than companionship — a hand with personal care, medication prompts, mobility, household routines, or all of the above. A carer visits on an agreed schedule, usually for two hours or more at a time, and supports your loved one through the parts of the day they find most difficult.

Some families book one or two visits a week; others have visits every morning and evening. Whatever the pattern, the carer becomes a familiar, dependable presence.

Who it is for

Visiting care suits people who are still living independently but who need real, practical support to keep doing so. It is also a useful step before more intensive care is needed — a way of extending the time your loved one can comfortably stay at home.

What a visiting carer might help with

  • Personal care — washing, dressing, support with toileting and continence
  • Medication prompts and observation
  • Help with mobility, including transfers between bed and chair
  • Meal preparation, with attention to dietary needs
  • Light housekeeping — laundry, dishes, bins
  • Accompanying to appointments and outings
  • Reassurance and conversation
